FuelOMeter Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 30, 2026
1. Who we are and what this policy covers
FuelOMeter keeps your vehicle data on your device: we have no servers, no accounts and we never see your fill-ups, expenses, trips or receipts.
This policy explains what information the FuelOMeter app ("FuelOMeter", "the app") handles, why, and the choices you have. FuelOMeter is published by Devomech Solutions ("we", "us"), contact contact@devomech.com.
The only data that leaves your device is handled by third-party services from Google that show ads, deliver app settings and fonts, and process purchases. They are described in section 4.
2. Information stored only on your device
Everything you enter in FuelOMeter is saved in a local database on your phone and is never sent to us. We cannot access, view or recover it.
- Vehicles (name, type, fuel type, odometer): to keep a separate log per vehicle.
- Fill-ups (date, volume, price, odometer, station name, notes): to calculate fuel economy and costs.
- Expenses and income (category, amount, date, notes): to show spending, cost per km or mile and reports.
- Reminders (service type, due date or odometer): to notify you when service is due.
- GPS trips (route points, distance, start and end time, purpose such as business or personal): to log trips and business mileage.
- Receipt images (photos or screenshots you choose to scan): to read the receipt text on your device. Images are not saved with your records; shared copies are deleted after scanning, and camera photos stay only as temporary files in the app's cache.
- Settings (units, currency, reminder preferences, Pro status, and whether a promo code or rewarded video has unlocked Pro features and until when): to make the app work the way you set it up.
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number or contacts. FuelOMeter has no sign-up and no user account.
3. Permissions and how they are used
FuelOMeter asks for each permission only when you use the feature that needs it, and you can refuse or revoke any of them in your phone's settings.
- Location (precise and approximate): used only to record a GPS trip you start, and only while a trip is recording. Never used for ads. This data does not leave your device.
- Foreground service (location): keeps a trip recording when the screen is off. A notification shows while it runs. This data does not leave your device.
- Camera: to take a photo of a fuel receipt to scan. This data does not leave your device.
- Photos and files (system picker): to choose a receipt photo or screenshot, or a backup or CSV file to import. This data does not leave your device.
- Notifications and run at startup: for service reminders, rescheduled after your phone restarts. This data does not leave your device.
- Internet and network state: to load ads, app settings (Firebase Remote Config), fonts (Google Fonts) and purchases, only through the services in section 4.
- Advertising ID: to show ads (see section 5). Shared with Google AdMob.
- Google Play Billing: to buy and restore FuelOMeter Pro. Handled by Google Play.
Receipt text is read on your device with Google ML Kit text recognition. Your receipt images are not uploaded.
4. Third-party services
FuelOMeter uses five Google services. They may collect information directly from your device under their own privacy policies; we do not receive your personal data from them beyond aggregated reports.
- Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK and User Messaging Platform)
May collect: advertising ID, IP address, device and app information, ad interactions, consent choices.
Purpose: showing ads, measuring them, preventing fraud, recording your consent.
Privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
How Google uses information from apps: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
- Firebase Remote Config
May collect: Firebase installation ID, app version, device language and country.
Purpose: delivering app settings, such as which ads show where, without an app update.
Privacy policy: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- Google Fonts
May collect: IP address and basic device information when the app downloads its fonts. Fonts are downloaded the first time they are needed and then stored on your device.
Purpose: displaying the app's text in its fonts.
Privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Google Play Billing
May collect: purchase and subscription details, linked to your Google account.
Purpose: processing and restoring FuelOMeter Pro subscriptions.
Privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Google ML Kit (on-device text recognition)
May collect: device information and performance metrics, never your receipt images or text.
Purpose: reading receipts on your device and keeping the feature working.
Terms: https://developers.google.com/ml-kit/terms
We never see your payment details. Google Play processes all payments, and we only learn whether a subscription is active.
5. Advertising, promo codes and your choices
The free version of FuelOMeter shows ads from Google AdMob; FuelOMeter Pro subscribers see no ads, and no ad requests are made for them.
- Consent (EEA, UK, Switzerland and US states with privacy laws): before any ad is requested, Google's consent form asks whether ads may be personalised. Ads are only requested once the law allows it.
- Change your choice anytime: open More > Settings > Ad privacy options (shown where the law requires it).
- Personalised ads: you can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your phone's settings under Google > Ads (Android) or Privacy & Security > Tracking (iPhone).
- iPhone: FuelOMeter asks for permission before using the advertising identifier for tracking. If you decline, you still see ads, but they are not personalised.
- Rewarded videos: watching a video to unlock Pro features for a limited time is always your choice.
- Promo codes: a promo code you enter on the Pro screen is checked on your device and is never sent to us or anyone else. It unlocks Pro features for a limited time; ads may still be shown during that time.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your location, fuel logs or expenses for advertising.
6. Backups, exports and sharing
Your data leaves your device only when you choose to share it, and it goes only where you send it.
- Backup: Settings > Create backup makes a file you save through your phone's share sheet, for example to Google Drive, email or Files. The service you pick stores it under its own privacy policy.
- CSV export and import: exported CSV files go wherever you send them. Imported files are read on your device.
- Sharing a receipt to FuelOMeter: when you share a photo or screenshot to FuelOMeter from another app, a temporary copy is scanned on your device and then deleted.
Keep backup files somewhere safe: anyone with the file can read the records in it.
7. Keeping and deleting your data
Your records stay on your device until you delete them, and you can delete them yourself at any time.
- Single records: delete any fill-up, expense, income entry, reminder or trip in the app.
- A whole vehicle: deleting a vehicle also deletes all its fill-ups, expenses, income, reminders and trips.
- Everything: uninstall FuelOMeter, or open your phone's Settings > Apps > FuelOMeter > Storage > Clear storage. This permanently removes all app data from the device.
- Backups you made: delete those files from wherever you saved them.
- Data held by Google: advertising, Firebase and purchase data is kept and deleted under Google's policies in section 4. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings, and see your purchase history in Google Play.
Because we hold no copy of your records, we cannot restore them if you delete them without a backup.
8. Security
Your records are protected by your phone's own security, such as its screen lock and app sandbox. Data sent by the Google services in section 4 is encrypted in transit. No method of storage is completely secure, so keep your phone locked and your backup files private.
9. Children
FuelOMeter is meant for adults who own or drive vehicles and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has used the app, you can delete its data as described in section 7.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, including the EEA, UK and US states such as California, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or move your personal data, to object to or limit its use, and to withdraw consent.
- Data in the app: you already control it fully: view, edit, export or delete it in FuelOMeter.
- Ad consent: change it in More > Settings > Ad privacy options.
- Data held by Google: use the controls in the policies in section 4, or Google's privacy controls at https://myaccount.google.com/data-and-privacy
- Questions or requests: email us atcontact@devomech.com. We reply within 30 days.
We do not sell or share personal information for money. For your rights under the GDPR, the controller of the data processed by each Google service is described in that service's policy.
11. International transfers
The Google services in section 4 may process data on servers outside your country, including in the United States, under the safeguards described in their policies.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app changes. The "Last updated" date at the top shows the latest version. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes on Google Play.
